All flight proceeded to Waypoint 2 where they held at assigned altitudes for the clearance to push onto their objectives. Flights were directed to switch frequencies from the carriers E-2 Hawkeye over to an E-3 AWACS, callsign Darkstar who was the joint force controller for the mission.
Shortly after 2145 hours local, Darkstar cleared all flight to continue mission and Dealer 2 was pushed out in front by 90 seconds to get into HARM range. Dealer 2, working with both F-14’s launching TALDS and an EA-6B from the carrier air wing destroyed the four radar systems of Abu Musa island’s HAWK battery, clearing the way for Dealer 1 & 3 and two other air wing Hornet elements to strike their targets. The HAWK sites launchers and ancillary equipment were then obliterated by a CBU strike from Air Force
With the air threat reduced to random AAA fire, Dealer 1 & 3 made their attack runs, targeting and completing destroying 2 of 3 Silkworm anti ship missile batteries on the island. The third Silkworm battery was duly destroyed by another air wing Hornet element, along with a command bunker and missile storage depot.
All Dealer aircraft then returned to USS Abraham Lincoln for a moonless Case 3 recovery without incident. All objectives were destroyed with no friendly losses. Mission Success!
