T-45 Goshawk mod?

Evidently the T-45 Goshawk is a thing now.

Similar to the discussion regarding the A-4 Skyhawk mod; is this something we need to incorporate as a supported airframe for VFA-41?

Our charter clearly mandates us to support all US carrier-capable aircraft. We will, of course, continue to do that, within reason... let us consider the pros and cons.

:1smiley: It looks cool. Videos suggest that it is a fully functional mod and works well on the carrier.

:1sad: It is a mod, not an 'official' DCS aircraft. We have historically avoided requiring mods to the sim unless they benefit the whole squadron in some way. We've never banned mods, but they have always been at the pilot's own risk. If the mod makes your machine non-functional for multi-player, or if your mod interferes with others, you don't fly. Further discussion was posted here some time ago: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=447

:1sad: Unlike the A-4, the T-45 is not a combat capable airframe (although the image appears to show a rocket launcher pod). It is a training aircraft only. As such, it serves very little purpose for us, as we do all of our basic quals in the F/A-18C. The T-45 is used to train pilots in the real world because it is much more cost effective than reserving F/A-18s for training. In the sim world, training in the F/A-18 doesn't cost us anything more.

Bottom line? If there is a demonstrated value to the squadron to have the T-45 on deck, we will consider it. In the meantime, pilots may install and fly it if they like, but it will remain unlikely to appear in any squadron missions. If anybody really wants to fly it, you might be able to talk the XO into adding it to the Range server, but I don't know if that is realistically feasible.
