VFA-41 Black Aces were tasked with a SEAD mission in Iran to eliminate an Early Warning Radar site (primary target) at whiskey 4, as well as secondary targets of two Command Centers, a communication tower, and an operations center marked with GPS coordinates around WP5.
Two dealer flights were tasked for this mission. Dealer Flight 1, focused on the EWR site, firing HARM missiles in PB mode. Dealer Flight 2 focus was put on the secondary targets.
Primary mission of EWR site was hit with HARM missiles, damage and destruction of the site unknown. HARM missiles deployed towards the secondary target AO, were intercepted by SAM missiles launched from this area. Dealer Flight 1 and 2 did however put Laser guided munitions onto various secondary targets, with good results.
After expenditure of ordinance, Miller Time was called and all aircraft successfully returned to Mother and trapped with case 1 recoveries.
Iran scrambled an F-14 from the north after both flights were miller time which never became a factor due to distance.
