VFA-41 pilots were tasked with a strike mission on two Russian naval ships off the coast of Poti. The two ships were located in difficult weather conditions but the attack was limited and ultimately abandoned due to these tough weather conditions and losses of two black aces pilots over the AO. The attack was also interrupted by Russian migs patrolling in the vicinity, with one SU-25 being downed during the sortie.

Intelligence after the attack confirmed limited damage to both ships, but the ships were not sunk and returned to Russian ports for repairs immediately after being damaged.
