VFA-41 was tasked with two missions.
Mission 1: Intercept a Russian Bear operating in the Gulf of Oman.
Mission 2: Destroy an Iranian earlier warning radar facility and Hawk air defense system at a given location.
Mission 1 was completed by Dealer flight 1. Dealer flight 1 located and intercepted the Bear which was escorted by two Su-27s. After forming up on the Russian flight they decided it was best to head back to Iran. Dealer flight 1 RTB.
Mission 2 was carried out by Dealer flight 2 which consisted of two F/A-18s and one AV-8B to provide laser designation. Flight two located and destroyed the EWR facility but was unable to locate the Hawk site.
