VFA-41 Black Aces were tasked with a SAR mission to rescue a fellow Black Ace Pilot who landed his damaged aircraft at the enemy airfield north Aleppo. Once and if the pilot could be rescued, a Seal team brought in for the rescue was to try and locate the VFA-41 F/A-18 aircraft that was landed at the airfield after suffering damage during a recent sortie over Aleppo. Mission was a night time mission with 2:30 AM start time. Primary targets were AAA positions scattered around the airfield and in the nearby city of Aleppo with the secondary objective of Black Ace F/A-18 jet #306 if it could be located by the Seal team.

SAR Helo Flight
1. HedgeHog - Successful return of VFA-41 Pilots 306 / 311
2. Maniac - Crash Landing at Aleppo Airfield, rescued by HedgeHog after the bailout

All Deployed VFA-41 Hornets successfully returned to mother. One SAR helo was lost at the airfield due to a hard landing, but the helo was destroyed by the Seal team upon egress and the POW VFA-41 pilot was rescued and his aircraft was located and destroyed. Mission was a complete success!
