27 FEB 2020 AWACS Attack

Post by Lion » Thu Feb 27, 2020 7:11 pm

TIME: FEB 27, 2020, 1350L TAKEOFF
WEATHER: Clear skies, 21 kts from W @ surface, 21 kts from W @ FL066, 65 kts from W @ FL240, dust smoke layer at 800 ft
LOCATION: GULF OF OMAN

SITUATION:
Carrier Strike Group Three, with the USS John C. Stennis and accompanying escorts have returned to the Persian Gulf region after emergency resupply at Diego Garcia. All squadrons temporarily deployed to Al Dhafra have returned to the carrier group.

With the exception of hostile forces occupying Khasab, Oman, the majority of Iranian ground troops have been eradicated and scattered into disarray in the UAE. Emirates forces have recaptured Fujairah International and are preparing to shore up defenses along the coastlines against enemy air incursions.

Iranian recon patrols have stepped up intensively in recent days and the CSG officers believe attacks against the strike group itself are imminent.

MISSION:
VFA-41 flights will launch today on an offensive counter air mission.

The enemy AWACS has been a major asset for Iranian airpower in recent weeks and strategic planners have ordered an intercept mission to take it out, along with its accompanying escorts.

The A-50 is currently orbiting in a racetrack pattern 25 nm northeast/east of BANDAR ABBAS and is presently escorted by at least two Su-27 Flankers. It is predicted that the IRIAF will put a distress call for all available airborne aircraft to immediately cover the area when the AWACS comes under attack, so be prepared.

- NOTE: The CSG only has small-capacity S-3B Tankers for a bit of extra fuel during recoveries.
The UAE has continued to authorize the release of external tanks and jet fuel, today at FUJAIRAH INTERNATIONAL.

AIR THREATS: MiG-23 Floggers, MiG-21 Fishebds, F-4 Phantoms, F-5 Tigers, F-14 Tomcats, Su-27 Flankers

NOTE:
