17 September 2023 - Operation Enduring Resolve Week 12

Post by Lion » Sun Sep 17, 2023 11:59 am

SITUATION
ISIS continues to lose territory around Palymra and up near the Taqba dam. Remnant Assad forces and rebels near Hatay, Turkey have intensified battles in recent weeks.

MISSION
Dealer 1 and 3 has been assigned a pre-planned mission in north and south Syria, respectively.
Dealer 2 will be flying an on-call A2G combat air patrol.

Dealer 1
Rebels on the border with Turkey in northwest Syria have become more and more bold in recent weeks, and now ELINT assets in the region have determined that the rebel forces are patrolling the local road network with ZSU-23 Shilkas with their radars fully deployed. Dealer 1 has been assigned a mission to search and destroy these roving bands of AAA vehicles. ELINT indicates there are approximately four such convoys at any given time driving up and down the region.

Your flight will be operating in close proximity to the Chinese airbase on the coast. Do not come within 15 nautical miles.

Dealer 3
The apocalyptic death cult in the south of Syria is on its last legs. Dealer 3 has been ordered to fly to a collection of small villages and await a special forces-operated Kiowa Warrior recon helicopter as it scouts out and marks MANPADs for your flight to drop on. Weapons loadout of laser-guided bombs is highly recommended as they will be lasing on code 1688 and marking targets with white smoke, however positional updates will not be passed along.
The helicopter will be circling the mission area at a slow speed to ensure good coverage of all the villages, as well as staying out of the MANPAD weapon employment zone.

Overfly waypoint 2 (Damascus) to trigger the Kiowa start-up sequence.

Mission Commander and Flight Leaders should expect to be called over tactical frequencies for targets of opportunity throughout the patrol. RTB criteria is fuel emergency or winchester.

Refueling tankers are spread across the region, there should be no problem getting a top-up if needed.

THREATS
- MANPADs everywhere that friendly forces do not control.
- Possible harassment and unprofessional airmanship from Chinese fighters.

ROE

WEAPONS FREE (on assigned targets). It is highly likely that given targets will be in dense urban areas. Carrying a FLIR pod is mandatory and verification needed to ensure civilian areas are not struck.
