Note: Smaller scale mission this week due to typically low Father's Day availability
SITUATION
With a largely successful attack on a major Syrian air defense site last week, NATO is proceeding with additional airstrikes against interior strategic and logistics targets deeper in side Syrian territory.
MISSION
VFA-41 will launch from USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) and target a vehicle repair and servicing facility on the outskirts of the town of Aziziyah.
The target complex [WP3] consists of a large central repair shop and three smaller parts and supplies storage warehouses. The facility lies to the SE of the town and is not immediately surrounded by any civilian structures.
Weather for the strike is not forecast to be favorable, with a solid mid-layer (~8000') overcast and rain. Without specific GPS coordinates for each of the buildings and a low probability of obtainig high-altitude acqisition of the targets, a mid-altitude strike with visual or FLIR target acquisition will likely be required.
THREATS
The weather should preclude much interference by Syrian interceptors
Assuming the SA-10 struck last week is still out of commission (post-strike intel indicates that both fire-control and tracking radars were rendered unserviceable), no SAM-threats are expected to exist in the immediate area. Note The SA-10's BB search radar may still be in service and can be prosecuted as a target of opportunity if pilot and aircraft availability allow.
Target area recon, indicates at least three AAA emplacements surrounding the facility. Be on the lookout for AAA and small arms fire over the target area.
ROE
Weapons free- All Syrian targets may be engaged.
