SITUATION
Coalition forces remain in a defensive posture as Turkish and NATO forces hold their positions along the Hatay/Turkey border and the Marines continue their preparations for an amphibious landing in Syria.
Syria still maintains air superiority over the region and their air defense network still poses a major threat to allied aircraft.
MISSION
VFA-41 has been tasked to strike and eliminate another EWR site and a major air defense command and control installation located further inland, north of the town of Hama.
The EWR radar consists of a single 55G6 search radar [WP3].
The command-and-control installation houses a communications tower [WP4], control center [WP5], and barracks [WP6]
All targets are on the outskirts of a small village and are located in proximity to local shops and civilian housing. Precision munitions are advised (waypoints are targetable.)
F-14 BARCAP [COLT FLIGHT] will again be established just offshore of our ingress/egress route.
KC-135 Tanker support (TEXACO) is available north of Cyprus, along the divert route to Incirlik AB.
THREATS
The target area is on the outer fringes of long-range SAM capabilities based in Aleppo, as well as numerous shorter-range SAMs located North and East. The strike has been routed in from the SW to avoid the majority of the SAM threat.
CHEVY Flight (3 x F-18c) will attempt to neutralize the remaining launch vehicles of the SA-11 battery (last week’s partially destroyed secondary target) North of our ingress route near Jisr Ash-Shugur
Fixed and mobile AAA have been observed at the target area and madpads are assumed to be present as well.
Abu-al-Duhur airbase is located approximately 30 miles NE of the target area. Syrian fighter aircraft will likely be on CAP over central Syria, so tasking one flight with sweep/escort duty is highly advised.
Note: The political situation in neighboring Lebanon just to the south of our AOR is tense, and large areas of the nation are controlled by Hezbollah. Do not venture into Lebanese airspace, or you may be fired upon without warning.
ROE
Weapons free- All Syrian forces may be engaged as required.
