Realistic AAR (and other) Orbits

Getting the speeds of tankers and other orbiting aircraft like AWACS correct in the mission editor can be difficult because the airspeed setting in the DCS Mission Editor is set for either ground speed, or True Airspeed (I've seen it listed both ways) as opposed to indicated air speed (KIAS), which ...

Bravo Zulu Raid! I’m sure we’ll see you in the friendly, and not so friendly, skies again soon.

Re: 06 Feb 2020 - Damascus Dawn Week 8

Didn't see these anywhere in the brief and not sure what the plan of attack is, but for reference here's the relevant HARM Pre-Brief codes for the SA-10 if we need them:

Big Bird Search Radar [BB] = 104
Clam Shell Search Radar [CS] = 103
Flap Lid Track Radar [10] = 110

Setting Barometric Altitude Warning

As mentioned in the 1/30/22 mission debrief, a good way to avoid getting too low into the Weapon Engagement Zone (WEZ) of AAA and MANPADs during strike missions is to set a barometric altitude warning via the HSI page. It is set to a default altitude of 5,000 feet on start up, which is why you typic...

Re: 09 Jan 2022 - Damascus Dawn Week 4

Just wanted to let Mr. Bean know that I had an issue during this mission with the radio presets. The only one the was correct in the Dealer 1-4 aircraft was button 1 on Comm1 as 315.000. I also realized very late in the mission that I had 266.000 as button 20 on both radios, but Mother and the tanke...

Re: Mission Editor Resources/Tutorials

I am also pretty much a noob at the Mission Editor, but I do enjoy playing with it, like you said Mr. Bean, almost as much as actually flying. I have yet to do anything with scripting as nearly all computer related stuff is very foreign to me, but I do want to learn. Linked below is a play list from...

Re: HOTAS

This is good food for thought. I’m currently running an X56 HOTAS, and sometimes I think it to be a limiting factor for me in terms of precision. Not so much the stick, but the throttle. In the rational part of my brain, I know it’s not much different than any other computer accessory, but subjectiv...
