VFA-41 was tasked with escorting a flight of B-52s on a strike mission.
VFA-41 launched three flights, two flights of F/A-18 Hornets, and a flight of two F-14 Tomcats. VFA-41 aircraft met up with the strike package at the designated time and location and began providing escort. A flight of SU-27s was detected ingressing the area and VFA-41 Tomcats (Dealer 3) intercepted and eliminated the bandits. A 2nd flight of F-5 was later detected heading toward the bomber flight. The Tomcats eliminated one of the four F-5s and then disengaged due to lack of long range ordnance. The remaining F-5s were lost track of at that point. They ended up reappearing merged with the bombers and Dealer 1. Dealer 1 managed to take down two of the F-5s but lost all three of it's own aircraft in the engagement. Dealer 2, While returning from getting fuel intercepted and took out the remain F-5.
Two of the four bombers delivered their bombs on target. All four returned to base and landed.
Mission successful, but with heavy losses.
