15 JUN 2020 COVID CONVOY

Post by Dirty_Dan » Tue Jun 16, 2020 9:46 pm

VFA-41 Black Aces were tasked with intercepting and destroying a convoy carrying COVID-19 virus to Bandar Abbas, as well as destroying a facility manufacturing the virus.

SEAD flight launched first in hopes of eliminating any threat emitters before CAP/Strike packages infiltrated the target area. Deck crew mishaps delayed Dealer 2: CAP flight, resulting in Dealer 3: SEAD orbiting short of potential hostile aircraft directly in line with the Black Ace's flight plan. Once Dealer 2 was airborne, they quickly intercepted the hostile aircraft and eliminated the threat, clearing the way for CAP and Strike flights.

Dealer 1: Strike launched 5 minutes behind Dealer 2, and arrived at the target area with no active enemy aircraft or threat emitters. As such, SEAD flight was cleared for RTB. Upon delivery of munitions on the convoy carrying COVID-19, SA-6 sites activated and began firing on the strike package. SEAD flight began returning to the target area and fired on active enemy air defenses. Due to distance from target area, HARM launches were too late to strike their targets before all three strike aircraft were lost. All strike aircraft achieved several hits and caused significant losses for the convoy. All three strike aircraft were downed before launching munitions on the COVID-19 manufacturing plant.

Pilot records are as follows:

Raid - 1x Su-27, 1x A-50 Mainstay, trapped
Swivel - 1x Su-27, trapped
Trim - gnd tgts (truck), shot down by SA-6
Ticman - gnd tgts (truck), damaged by Igla Manpad, ejected over int'l water.
Dirty Dan - gnd tgts (truck), shot down by SA-6
Hedgehog - gnd tgt (SA-6), trapped
Mr. Bean - gnd tgt (SA-6, truck), trapped
Madrus - crashed on recovery

Mission partial success; convoy destroyed, production facility still active.

Additional flights will need to be tasked with intercepting any future attempts to transport the COVID-19 virus, and destroy the production facility.
