Mission Commander Assignment & Welcome Aboard for ENS Raid & ENS Novex and of course, ENS Dirty Dan

LT Ticman is assigned as Mission Commander for this mission.
WP#2, Bullseye, is a critical WP for the mission scenario. Escort flights should get within 5 nm of WP#2.
ROE = WEAPONS FREE for all hostile enemy units.

I think it is appropriate to re-post a clarification of "hostile" for our new pilots.
At this point, we are openly engaged in a military "conflict" with Iran and "hostile" is to include being fired upon, locked on with tracking radar if the aggressor is physically in position to launch a weapon, or attempting to get into an advantageous position to fire. This leaves a lot of leeway for the pilot to defend himself. I only state a mission ROE to discourage the killing of civilian type units and enemy military units that are unarmed, harmless, non aggressive and only in the mission to make it interesting. This military type eye candy will usually not intersect our flight path. But if they do and turn toward you, that is now hostile intent and you are Weapons Free. Some missions, like the first introduction mission, are designed to present exactly that scenario. So keep your head on a swivel.

New Intel

Joint Intelligence Center, Central Command
To: USS John C. Stennis Carrier Air Wing

New intelligence concerning the upcoming high level escort mission. Radio "chatter" indicates elevated Iranian military air force activity centered around Bandar Abbas Intl Airport or Qeshm Island Airport. Both are located near the Strait of Hormuz north east of the USS Stennis Carrier Groups current position. Deciphered intel consistently references the date and time of YAK-40's flight. The Intel Center now considers the threat credible and recommends some assets be assigned to counter hostile fighter aggression from that area. The hostile fighters will likely be Mig-29s or Mig-19s and a flight of 3 or 4. Iranian pilots are being selected from the radical Al Quds Force so this threat has the potential to be very serious. No known intelligence on actual purpose or target of this Iranian flight but the coincidence of time and date should not be underrated.

Intelligence Center,
(AKA Intel weenies)
