M-11 Flight 106 Hijacked
by Shadow

TIME: SEP 01, 2019, 1000L launch.
WEATHER: High clouds, 15 K base.
LOCATION: Persian Gulf

MISSION:
The VFA-41 Black Aces will launch two or more flights and intercept the YAK-40 commercial air liner. Your WP3 to WP4 will indicate the flight path of the YAK-40 (friendly) and hostile fighters (unfriendly). Force the hostile fighters to withdraw or shoot them down to release the airliner. The Yak-40 has to be released before it gets feet dry over IRAN or it will be lost. It will be feet dry in approx. 45 minutes after the first VFA-41 flight launches. Escort the YAK-40 to Al Bateen Airport, UAE. You will be messaged when it is clear to RTB. Additional Refuel Tankers are being dispatched to be available. TEXACO - North, SHELL - South.
ROE: WEAPONS FREE for hostile enemy units.

SITUATION:
A commercial flight from Kuwait City to Dubai International has been forced off its flight path by two or more hostile fighters. Flight 106 is currently in the Persian Gulf south east of Kuwait. A short emergency MAYDAY broadcast ended abruptly after reporting two fighter aircraft had forced the YAK-40 to change course. Regional radar shows the aircraft and merged escorts flying east toward IRAN air space. There are 23 passengers and crew on board.

whats the parameters for 'hostile' ? Tracking radar (spiked) locked on or fire control radar guiding a missile?

i would point out that this point in the campaign, we've already engaged in basically open warfare between our forces :1shocked: :1angry:

Good question. At this point, yes we are openly engaged in a military "conflict" with Iran. "Hostile" is to include being fired upon, locked on with tracking radar if the aggressor is physically in position to launch a weapon, or attempting to get into an advantageous position to fire. This leaves a lot of leeway for the pilot to defend himself. I only state a mission ROE to discourage the killing of civilian type units and enemy military units that are unarmed, harmless, non aggressive and only in the mission to make it interesting. This military type eye candy will usually not intersect our flight path. But if they do and turn toward you, that is now hostile intent and you are Weapons Free. Some missions, like the first introduction mission, are designed to present exactly that scenario. So keep your head on a swivel.

LCDR Hedgehog is assigned as MC for this delicate mission.
Surgical targeting will be necessary to liberate the innocent civilians.

By Order of Central Command;
Unless otherwise posted in the mission brief, all allied and neutral airports and air bases will only make fuel available. Repair and rearming services will require advanced requisition through the General Services Administration (GSA).
Thank you for your cooperation.
