With today's updates and patch notes, including what must be 200-300 lines of notes just for the F/A-18C, here is kind of an important reminder...

NOBODY here knows everything about the Hornet, least-wise me. Everybody here knows something that you don't, and you know something that somebody else doesn't. That's kinda why we're here, and the main value in being in a squadron. We learn from each other, much more so than what you can learning reading a manual. And the learning process never ends. There's always some other function in some system that you didn't know about.

And it bears repeating that the Basic Qualification program is not designed or intended to be a fully comprehensive training of the intricate details of every system on the jet to make anybody an expert. To the contrary, it is designed to ensure that each pilot meets the MINIMUM level of knowledge and functional skill to carry out typical tasking in squadron missions. I can assure you that the squadron IPs are not masters of every system in the jet, but are capable of guiding you in meeting the objectives of Basic Qualification... the operative word here being BASIC.

Once you earn your wings, learning doesn't stop. At that point, it depends on each of us doing the best we can to keep up with functions and features as they are added in the sim, as well as honing skill in systems we already know. Most everything we do is a perishable skill, which means you must make it your business to get in the cockpit during the week and practice targeting and weapons systems, traps, and in-flight refueling. That's why the squadron servers are up 24 hours a day.

Share what you know, learn as much as you can. Don't sweat it if you feel like there is a lot you don't know about the jet... that's pretty much where we all are. :1wink:
