For some guided weapons, you can use waypoint targeting. However, the waypoint must be a 'precision' waypoint in order for the weapon the hit the target accurately. If you're lucky, the precision waypoint has already been programmed into your navigation computer. If not, you will have to do it yourself. There are a several important steps to make your navigation computer accept that LAT/LON data in the format you are likely to receive (DEG - MIN - SEC.XX).
1. Press the DATA button on the HSI page.
2. Select an unused or unassigned waypoint.
3. Press the PRECISE button.
4. Notice that the waypoint format is NOT what you want.
4. Press the A/C button.
5. Press the LATLN button to change the waypoint format to SEC.
6. Press the WYPT button
Notice that the waypoint format is now the desired DEG - MIN - SEC.XX format!
7. Press the UFC button to enter LAT/LON and ELEV data on the UFC.
(You will need to enter DEG - MIN - SEC [ENTER] .XX [ENTER])
