VFA-41 was tasked with destroying an SA-10 SAM site that had been setup by separatists in order to try to establish a NO FLY ZONE.
VFA-41 deployed two flights. Dealer 1 was to air cover and eliminate any aircraft protecting the SAM site. Dealer 2 was to perform SEAD and destroy the target SAM site.
Both flights performed there tasks and the primary target was destroyed, by about 10 separate HARMs. Unfortunately, each fling lost an aircraft in the engagement.
Although it is hard to call a mission a success when even a single aircraft and/or pilot is lost, the primary mission objective was met.
