Under the cover of darkness, VFA-41 Black Aces were dispatched from USS Theodore Roosevelt at 0030 for tasking of battlefield interdiction on and around Qeshm Island. Primary targets were anything attacking Qeshm Island and airfield, and a reported group of enemy gunships lurking in the AO. JTAC laser spotting was utilized in the AO from an Air Force Reaper Drone on station.
Upon arrival at Qeshm Island, ongoing attacks were underway from South Iranian borders north of Qeshm Island. A large rocket attack was witnessed on Qeshm airfield with what looked like total destruction. Two Black Ace dealer flights attacked the launchers before, during and after the rocket launching attack.
CAP flight Dealer 3 found, engaged and destroyed four enemy helo's enroute to Qeshm Airfield likely planning more destruction throughout the island.
Mission was deemed a partial success, as rocket launchers involved in the attack on Qeshm Airfield were destroyed, but after they got off two rounds of launches towards the south.
