VFA-41 was tasked with destroying an ammo bunker and command center located at Tunb Island AFB. Secondary targets were military assets around the base.
Black Aces sent in a SEAD package to clear the way for their STRIKE package to follow. The mission took place at dark hours and was successful in hitting both primary and secondary targets. Three enemy F5's were dispatched from the Tunb air base during the strike and got airborne. With the strike package overhead and merged, two Black Ace pilots were KIA during the downing of these bandits. All remaining Black Aces returned safely to Mother.
