16 JAN 2020 Jask Attack

Post by Lion » Thu Jan 16, 2020 10:06 pm

VFA-41 tasked with suppression of enemy radars and reconnaissance at the Bandar-e-Jask area. Strategic strike on Abu Musa dropped due to lack of airframes.

Dealer 1 (4x F/A-18, 1x F-14B) departed Al Dhafra AB and formed up quickly. On ingress to target area, multiple bandits engaged allied CAP flights along the coastline and were seemingly dispatched.

On approach to Bandar-e-Jask, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5 anchored out of the SA-2 engagement zone while 1-1 and 1-2 commenced search and destroy tactics in the area. Eventually the SA-2 turned on its radar and was destroyed by HARMs.
1-3 and 1-4 commenced cleanup of AAA and any other SAMs in the area with AGM-65Fs, and bagged several targets including an SA-15 vehicle. 1-2 dropped MK-82s that destroyed a ZU-23 mounted technical and a bunker.
1-5 was ordered to activate low level (500 ft agl) photo recon run over the area and achieved it with no damage. Flight reformed and egressed back to HOMEPLATE.

On egress back over the UAE, Dealer 1 was intercepted by 2x F-14s from Iran and was quickly engaged and destroyed by 1-3, 1-4, and 1-5. All aircraft thereafter proceeded to return to base. Unfortunately, the connection timed out for everyone, but as all aircraft were on recovery approach, i'll call it mission success :1wink:

Dealer 1:
1. Lion - ground targets
2. Shadow - ground targets
3. Dirty Dan - ground targets
4. Ticman - ground targets
5. Raid - 2x F-14

Intel notes: SA-2 confirmed destroyed, plus SA-15 vehicle. ZSU-23 emplacements likely still active.
