VFA-41 were tasked to provide ground reccon and CAS as required over a downed F-15 pilot (Callsign Loki) until he could safely reached one of two possible pickup points where he would be extracted by an Army Ranger patrol (Jasper) attached to the 2nd Ranger Battalion.

Two Dealer flights launched from U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt at 16:30 local time, checked in with the on scene commander (Magic) at WP2, and then held at WP3 awaiting further instructions. Magic, having established contact with Loki, sent the pilot north along a river to WP Naboo where he was to rendevous with the Ranger patrol. Magic then realeased the Dealers flight to attack Separatist units who had arrived at the crash site in search of the pilot. These elements were destroyed. An additional enemy convoy enroute to the crash site was identified an destroyed by the Dealer flights. Two additional enemy units, a mortor unit and infantry unit, were sited along the egress route were also engaged and destroyed, alowing the pilot to safely reach the Ranger patrol. In addition to the ground action, Dealer flights destroyed an incoming Mig-21 and two Mi-24 helicopters.

Due to the extended loiter time over the area both Dealers flight refueled at the KC-130 tanker and successfully recovered aboard CVN-71.
Mission was a complete success.
