Pick-up Mission 26 NOV 'Operation Hormuz 7'

Post by Hedgehog » Thu Nov 30, 2023 12:32 pm

In a break from the squadron's participation in Operation Enduring Resolve, the Black Aces were tasked with attacking and destroying a number of Iranian warships in port before they could get underway as well as other assets in the port facility. AGM-62 Walleye TV-guided bombs were specified for the attack due to their ability to be guided from above a dense cloud cover.

Several ships were destroyed, despite general difficulty in employing the infrequently used Walleye and datalink pods. Unfortunately, one entire flight was last due to a spectacular 3-way midair collision. :1shocked:

Dealer 1
1 - Hedgehog: 1 ship destroyed, trapped.
2 - Sabot: trapped.
3 - Rhino: 2 ships destroyed, trapped.

Dealer 2
1 - Maniac: 1 ship destroyed, lost in mid-air collision.
2 - Crash: lost in mid-air collision.
3 - Chaos: 1 truck destroyed, lost in midair collision.

Mission objectives partially met. Assigned surface ships destroyed, submarines in drydock not damaged.
