Due to the holiday weekend, an optional pick-up mission was offered yesterday for any Black Ace pilots who still wanted to fly.
Two Black Ace jets departed Kobuleti and proceeded to conduct a low-level attack on an enemy supply depot. Ingress and egress were through a series of river valleys and the attack was conducted with Mk-82 Snakeye high drag bombs.
The supply dump was protected by a platoon of infantry as well as several MANPADs, with multiple SAM installations and MANPADs located in the surrounding valleys- prepared to pick off errant allied jets that strayed too far off of route.
Both DEALER jets made a successful ingress to the target area and released their bombs on target. DEALER 1-2 was critically damaged by a MANPAD just prior to cresting a ridgeline on egress. The airframe eventually lost hydraulics and was lost, but the pilot ejected safely. The second DEALER jet recovered uneventfully back at Kobuleti.
DEALER 1
1-1 Mr Bean: Ground targets, recovered Kobuleti
1-2 Maniac: Ground targets, damaged on egress/ejected.
