Pick-up Mission 02 FEB 'Operation Hormuz 3'

VFA-41 was tasked with establishing air superiority in a coordinated SAR mission to recover downed American pilots. The mission was launched from the CVN in two flights, designated Hawk 1 and Hawk 2. This was a nighttime mission with 0% illumination and zero visibility. Both flights encountered heavy resistance from a variety of Iranian fighters.

Hawk 1
1 - Mr. Bean: 2x Mirage F1, downed by MiG-29
2 - Maniac: CFT (Controlled Flight into Terrain)
3 - Rhino: downed by MiG-29

Hawk 2
1 - Hedgehog: 1x MiG-29, 2x F-14, returned to CVN, trapped
2 - Bear (guest): sim failure, disconnected
3 - Chaos: downed by F-14

Ultimately the SAR helos successfully rescued the downed pilots, at the cost of many more downed pilots...
