VFA-41 was tasked with the destruction of defensive forces protecting an FOB that has been being used to support operation to sabotage oil producing facilities in the area. Secondary targets were trucks being used to get to and from the oil fields as well as any structures at the FOB.
VFA-41 sent three flights for the operation. Dealer 3 launched first to provide SEAD as there was know to be mobile SA-8 SAMs in the area. Dealer 1 followed as the primary strike flight to target the armored defenses with LGBs. Dealer 2 launched after a delay to allow Dealer 1 time to take out the defences. After Dealer 1 cleared the area Dealer 2 attacked the FOB with standard MK-82 bombs taking out all but a couple of the trucks. After getting some fuel Dealer 1 then returned to the target site to clean up and remaining targets. Only finding one truck still standing they hit it as well as several structures. All flights then returned to USS George Washington.
MISSION SUCCESS. The FOB was all but completely destroyed and all aircraft returned with no casualties.
