CC-20 No Fly Zone
by Shadow

TIME: JAN 10, 2021, 1100L launch.

WEATHER: Cloudy - ceiling @ 10k,
LIght surface fog, 3 mile visibility.
Wind NW @ 10
QNH 29.92
LOCATION: Black Sea

MISSION:
Flights of the VFA-41 Black Aces will launch and destroy a SA-10 SAM in South Ossetia. WP#6 is 23 nm from the target SAM at WP#7 (set to ground level for targeting purposes). A NOE ingress from WP#3 to WP#6 should provide sufficient terrain masking to WP#6. The possibility of advancing beyond WP#6 to launch SEAD weapons will have to be determined by the SEAD Flight Leader. A coordinated attack with AGM-88C HARMs should overwhelm the sites defenses and eliminate the radar units. INTEL does not believe the separatist have the resources to replace the advanced radar units and the rest of the SAM system will be unusable. Abkhazia Air Force is flying CAP missions through the area and must be eliminated before the SEAD / Strike Flight can ingress. Generally, two flights of two MIG-29's each have been patrolling at any given time in the area claimed to be the NO FLY ZONE. A response by additional Abkhazia fighters is to be expected.

SITUATION:
South Ossetia and Abkhazia separatists have declared a NO FLY ZONE within 40 nm of either Republic's borders with Georgia. The SA-10 Grumble SAM system in South Ossetia has become operational but the SA-10 SAM north of Tbilisi-Lochini Airport was destroyed in the previous action by the VFA-41 Black Aces. INTEL believes the site was salvaged to complete the South Ossetia SAM system. This indicates the limited resources available to the South Ossetia and Abkhazia separatists concerning these advanced SAM systems. Abkhazia has installed a third SA-2 Fan Song system to complete the SAM coverage between South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The fledgling Abkhazia Air Force has declared Combat Air Patrols will be flown to enforce the NO FLY ZONE for both South Ossetia and Abkhazia . Commercial air traffic in Georgia has been seriously disrupted.

INTEL Update - CC-20 NO FLY ZONE

Post by Shadow » Mon Jan 04, 2021 5:00 pm

VFA-41 Mission Commanders:
An alternate ingress profile is authorized due to the lack of intelligence concerning the possible mobile SAM threats on the ingress route from WP#6 to the Primary Target at WP#7 and the likely SA-18 MANPAD shoulder-launched missiles defending the Primary Target. An alternate high altitude ingress for the SEAD flight beyond WP#3 is authorized at the Mission Commanders discretion.

INTEL Update - 1-07-2021

Post by Shadow » Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:47 am

VFA-41 Pilots:
Recent SAT-DATA has indicated some SA-10 Launchers have been moved from the original SAM site. One Launcher and several vehicles were detected 3 nm south of the Primary SA-10 System but no radar units at that location. Cloud cover has prevented additional SAT-DATA intelligence on the area. The weather forecast is being updated.
