CC-03 Weapon Convoy
by Shadow

TIME: SEP 13, 2020, 0900L launch.
WEATHER: Scattered Clouds, base @ 10k,
Surface wind SW @ 15
LOCATION: Black Sea

MISSION:
Flights of the VFA-41 Black Aces will launch and destroy two bridges just south of the Russia / Georgia border. A large truck convoy
( 10 to 15 trucks ) carrying weapons, ammunition, and supplies for the rebels will be in transit on the road crossing the bridges. If correctly timed, the convoy will be trapped on the 1 1/2 nm stretch of road between the bridges and can be completely destroyed.
The south bridge (WP#6 Target) will have to be destroyed first but not before the convoy has entered Georgia from Russia. Don't overfly the canyon and cause the convoy to retreat back to Russia. There is a 10 minute window from the border crossing and the convoy reaching the south bridge (WP#6 Target). A local asset will radio (text msg) when the convoy crosses the border and the exact number
of units in the convoy. Flights should orbit between WP#4 and WP#5 until the convoy crosses the border. The asset will radio (text msg) a second time when the convoy crosses the northern bridge (WP#7 Target) and then the northern bridge (WP#7 Target) is to be destroyed
to prevent a retreat to Russia. This operation area is technically in Georgia but be advised the northern bridge is only 1 nm from the Russian border. Flights may encounter Russian fighter aircraft on patrol of the Russian border. Rebel troops on the convoy may be armed with 9M39 IGLA shoulder fired anti-aircraft missiles . The local asset will radio (text msg) when the convoy has been destroyed and all flights will be cleared to RTB. INTEL believes radio "chatter" and increased fighter activity at the Abkhazia Sukhumi-Babushara airport indicates a collaboration between the separatists of South Ossetia and Abkhazia to receive this supply convoy. A CAP flight near Bullseye ( WP#3 ) is advised.
ROE: Weapons FREE for all convoy units. Due to the close proximity of the Russian border, ROE for fighter aircraft in Russian air space: Weapon HOLD unless fired upon.

SITUATION:
Credible intel identified a large truck convoy traveling from Russia into Georgia through a deep canyon. The convoy carries supplies for the rebels and must be destroyed. The deep and narrow, north to south canyon presents some confinements for JSOW deployment. The south bridge (WP#6 Target) can be destroyed with two AGM-154C JSOW if they are launched on a 335 deg (+/- 3 deg) heading to the target. WP#5 is positioned to reference the correct heading. Using JSOW's on the north bridge (WP#7 Target) will be unreliable due to the terrain of the canyon. Flight length = 410nm. All flights have common WP's.

2X AIM-9X Sidewinder
1X AIM-120C AMRAAM
