TIME: SEP 6, 2020, 1400L launch.
WEATHER: Light Clouds - Surface wind NW @ 10, Aloft E @ 24.
LOCATION: Black Sea

MISSION:
Flights of the VFA-41 Black Aces will take off and locate a SA-2 Fan-Song SAM system that is a threat to aircraft using the neutral Tbilisi-Lochini Air Port. The SAM system is moved often but appears to operate in a 50 nm area of the foot hills north to north west of the airport. Fighter flights seperated by 20 to 30 nm may keep the SAM radar active long enough to launch AGM-88C HARM's and neutralize the threat. Additional A2G ordinance should then be used to destroy all components of the SAM system. Much of the OPS AREA is only 20 nm from the Russian / Georgia / South Ossetia border. Use caution NOT to engage any aircraft in Russian air space. ROE: Weapons FREE for clearly hostile threats NOT in Russian airspace. Flight Path = 450 nm.

SITUATION:
A Russian supplied SA-2 "Fan Song" SAM system is a threat to civilian and military aircraft flying in and out of the neutral Tbilisi-Lochini Airport. INTEL has a confirmed report of a missile launched on a military cargo plane landing at the air port with humanitarian supplies. The missile lost lock and missed. Airport traffic has been halted. Much of the OPS AREA area is in South Ossetia but a South Ossetia spokesperson disavows any involvement. The Russian embassy denies the SAM even exists. The SAM is only active for a short time span to lock and launch, then shuts down. Locating the SAM has so far been unsuccessful because it is moved often.
