SITUATION:
The Marines have landed!
While strike operations were busy obliterating infrastructure and critical military sites across southern Iran, Coalition forces assembled amphibious groups, including the United States Marine Corps' 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force, encompassing a vast array of battle-hardened firepower.
In the initial stages of the 4th phase of Operation TOMB FIST, Coalition forces have seized the 'Red' Iranian held fortress islands of Sirri Island, Greater Tunb Island, and Tunb Island, and secured their airfields as forward operating bases for the main invasion of the hostile Iranian coastline.
Though 'Red' IRGC forces have been severely depleted over the course of the campaign, they continue to have seemingly limitless amounts of short-range MANPADs and ZSU-23 anti-aircraft artillery and ammunition, and have been observed dispersing their soldiers into every major city and town in order to resist the invasion at every possible turn.
MISSION:
VFA-41 flights will launch on a battlefield interdiction mission.
Since the capture of Qeshm Island, IRGC 'Red' Iranian forces have been bombarding the island and airfield with nonstop tank, artillery, and rocket attacks. Intel assets in the area have learned of a planned heavy rocket attack of Fajr-5 MLRS vehicles being assembled for an attack somewhere on the island. Your flight is being tasked to patrol Qeshm Island and respond to any attacks with immediate retaliation.
Airborne remotely-piloted aircraft will be available to detect and track vehicles using laser guidance (laser code set to 1688) and infrared marking, viewable through nightvision goggles.
There are some indications that 'Red' Iranians may attempt to followup rocket attacks with helicopter gunship attacks - these will need to be intercepted if air defenses at Qeshm Airfield are taken out of commission for whatever reason.
Surface-to-air threats continue to be ZSU-23 anti-aircraft artillery dispersed into the Iranian countryside and coastline.
NOTE 1: Due to previous SCUD attacks, KHASAB AIRFIELD is CLOSED. The runway and tarmac is still heavily damaged!
NOTE 2: Friendly HAWK SAM sites have been deployed in Sirri Island, Tunb Island AFB, and Tunb Kochak Island. Any deployment of anti-radiation weaponry at these islands will result in consequences for future missions.
