23 JAN 2020 - Abu Musa Missile R&D Strike

Post by Lion » Thu Jan 23, 2020 5:23 pm

TIME: JAN 23, 2020, 1448L TAKEOFF
WEATHER: Inclement / dust @ 2000 ft, 14 kts from the NNW, moderate to intense low level turbulence
LOCATION: UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

SITUATION:
CSG-3 squadrons at Al Dhafra AB have been attriting Iranian air defences and assorted forces. The strike group is estimated to return to the area of operations next week, and the anti-ship batteries and surrounding assets are top priority.

MISSION:
VFA-41 flights have been tasked with a strategic strike on the Abu Musa Missile R&D. This facility is responsible for suspected chemical weapons production in addition to conventional anti-ship and surface-to-surface missiles. Elimination of this facility will seriously degrade Iran's ability to replace their Silkworm batteries.

There is a fixed SA-6 SAM battery 5000 ft east of the campus, an early warning radar site another 1000 ft east of the SAM battery, and two known ZU-23-mounted truck clusters by the runway.

20 miles north of Abu Musa island is Tunb Kochak island, where SA-2 emissions have now just been detected.
Additionally, 25 miles west of Abu Musa island, recon overflights have captured images of a new HAWK site on the island, though no radar emissions have been detected.

AWACS in the area has reported patrols of 2-4 MiG-21 Fishbeds and MiG-23 Floggers in the general vicinity all day.

- NOTE: F/A-18 aircraft waypoints 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 have all been assigned to the buildings for GPS weapon delivery, if so desired.

- NOTE: F-14B waypoint 4 = Surface Target at the Abu Musa Missile R&D campus.

- NOTE: Due to recent intense activity, AGM-154C JSOW weapons are severely depleted and not available for the next couple of missions until resupply.

- NOTE: its rather dusty for this mission, so via the ATC/AWACS/Tanker communications menu, select the Custom (F10) category and there will be an option for green signal flares to be lit, locating the start of the runway if pilots become blind on approach.

On-call fighter assistance from AL DHAFRA AB will be available to each DEALER division, from the F10 menu. (Dealer 1 slot 1 will activate the Tomcat group's assistance due to DCS bug)

AIR THREATS: MiG-23 Floggers, F-4 Phantoms, Mirage F-1 (M-2000C used as stand-in aircraft), F-5 Tigers, F-14 Tomcats.
GROUND THREATS: SA-2, SA-6 (Abu Musa), ZU-23 emplacements, infantry small arms in the area.
