Operation Urgent Guardian: The Epilogue

After months of hostilities that can only be described as "Open Warfare", moderates in the Iran government finally gained control of their military and started honest and meaningful negotiations to end the conflict. Negotiation teams sat down and within weeks a potential cease fire was drafted. Only a small contingency of hard line military officers would not accept the pending cease fire and they separated with what resources would follow them. The dissenters would never cooperate so they had to be eliminated. Not wanting to risk civil war, the moderate Iran government requested NATO help to strike the H. Q. of the rogue group. The rogue H. Q. location was disclosed and coastal SAM defenses shut down to allow unhindered access for a NATO strike. But the NATO strike was only hours too late. The strength of the rogue military officers and their support was underestimated. The moderate Iran government was overthrown in a military coupe and the moderate officials publicly executed in the streets. The world awaits the "new" Iran's next move. It is not likely they will just "Forgive and Forget".
