SITUATION
This week squadron pilots will practice delivering a variety of air to ground ordnance under the control of a Forward Air Controller
Each Dealer flight will operate independently on separate ranges with different FACs
Mission Commander’s note: No F-14s are available this week. Required loadout for each aircraft will be squadron standard with 1 x Fuel tank, 2 x AGM-65E, 2 x Mk-82, 2 x GBU-12.
MISSION
Winds are from the north, and flights will depart via Runway 3 utilizing the DREAM SIX departure. Flight leads will be directed to contact Blackjack upon range entry at JUNNO and will subsequently be given their range assignments by Blackjack.
• Once cleared to their range, flights will be directed to proceed to a named anchor point (WP2). Flight leads should check in with FAC on the specified frequency when directed by BLACKJACK.
• Once on station at the anchor point and checked in with the controller, FAC will periodically assign targets to DEALER flights. The following information will be given for all targets:
o Target bearing & distance from anchor pt.
o Type of target
o Requested direction of attack
o Type of weapon requested for attack
o Designation method (laser code and/or smoke color)
• Some target alerts will be followed up with 6-digit (non-precise) MGRS coordinates. If pilots use those coordinates to create a target waypoint, realize that the waypoint location will be in the general area of the target, but likely not specific enough to deliver weapons with. Pilots will need to use their FLIR and LST mode to lock on to FAC-laser designated targets, or visually designate non-lased targets with their FLIR for iron bomb delivery.
• Once all targets in a group are destroyed, FAC will advise and the flight should return to their anchor point to await further tasking.
Once Winchester or all targets destroyed, flights will be directed to proceed to nearest Range Exit point (WP3) (JAYSN or ELGIN EAST) and RTB Nellis via the appropriate arrival for that exit point.
Mission tankers are available if needed. SHELL will be operating in the eastern part of the range, TEXACO will be operating in the western part of the range.
THREATS
No enemy threats.
R4808A (Dreamland) will be active. Flights are cautioned to avoid while transiting to and working in their assigned ranges. Adherence to FAC assigned attack direction will help avoid inadvertently straying into the restricted area.
ROE
Follow the prescribed route of flight and any directives issued by ATC/Range Control.
All aircraft are reminded that it is squadron SOP to monitor GUARD frequency (121.5/253.0) on COMM2. This will be required at all times in the range complex for high priority information and traffic deconfliction purposes.
