SITUATION
Welcome to Syria. Due to projected low numbers over the holiday weekend, this week’s mission is a leisurely flight around the Syrian AOR, in which we will be operating for the next several months.
The mission will be made available to download and fly in SP for those that can’t make squad night and still want to fly the route.
MISSION
The route of flight will depart the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) and follow a sequence of nine waypoints before returning to the carrier. Landmarks and points of interest that may come into play during the upcoming campaign will be pointed out along the way.
Flying the route at angels 18 or 19 and cruise speed of M .80-.82 should take around an hour and a half.
A Hornet with two external tanks should have plenty of gas to fly the route as described above and recover aboard the carrier. Obviously, dipping down low for a better look or additional sightseeing will consume more; therefore a tanker will be available to top off on the way home.
KC-130 Tanker support (ARCO) is available over southern Syria, along the route back to the CVN.
