10 July 2022 - Damascus Dawn Week 25

Post by MrBean » Tue Jul 05, 2022 4:43 pm

SITUATION

Thanks to the nonstop bombing campaign by allied aircraft the past several weeks, NATO ground forces have pushed up to the outskirts of the important industrial town and major airfield of Jirah.

Before the final assault on Jirah takes place, the SA-11 site north of Jirah airfield must be eliminated so that allied CAS aircraft can operate in support of ground troops. Numerous A-10 and F-15e aircraft have been downed or turned back by this SA-11 and it must be eliminated.

The SA-11 has been targeted in past weeks, but although it has taken damage, only two of the five launchers have been disabled and the main search radar remains operational. This resilient SAM site is the priority target for allied aircraft this coming week.

MISSION

VFA-41 will launch at 0800 and target the Jirah SA-11 [WP3] once again in an attempt to finally put it out of commission for good.

THREATS

The SA-11 remains fully operational, albeit with a partial compliment of 3 launch vehicles. Jirah airport itself, located 2 miles south of the SAM site, is protected by additional SA-9 and SA-19 mobile SAM launchers and it is advised not to overfly Jirah airfield or the SAM site below 10,000 longer than required for target acquisition.

Syrian ground forces are entrenched just east of the SA-11 and Jirah airbase. Expect Manpad threat in the target area as well.

The Syrian air force is licking its wounds after losing multiple aircraft in action last week, and is not expected to put up much resistance, having lost use of the only runway available at Jirah Airbase.

ROE

Weapons free- All Syrian targets may be engaged.
